Midwinter longhouse life remains secure and healthy through deep frost: tempered willow and alder laths stretch hardwood billets under deep ash-banking, while roof snow loads are cleared and door reed screens block drafts. Daro's weekly sand clamp culls channel softening roots into nourishing communal pottages, and shallows foraging within knee-depth limits provides fresh mussels and cockles during sunny calms. Fen keeps the springhead runnel flowing freely without ice jams, the pan bank revetment holds firm against frost heave, and indoor craft teams produce storage hampers, new eel creels, and oiled tools.

Outcome
Saltmere maintains high domestic resilience and health through midwinter: ash-banking and tempered laths protect hardwood reserves, weekly clamp audits prevent rot, knee-deep shallows gathering supplements meals, and the springhead runnel remains clear of ice without structural damage. Tool honing and basketry prepare the village for spring.
Rationale
Player 1 commits scarce midwinter capacity to domestic heating, longhouse air hygiene, and food preservation. Pacing fuel draws with tempered laths and deep ash-banking conserves hardwood, while Daro's sand-clamp audits prevent tuber spoilage. Limiting shallows foraging to knee depth avoids cold-water hazards, and Fen's revetment checks protect against frost heave. High computed leadership power (1.0, Exceptional) supports smooth execution with zero complications.
Verdict
ACCEPT
Warning And Causal Support
Operations rely on established clan assets and seasonal caution; no elimination, injury, or forced crisis occurs. Domestic containment is fully supported by firewood reserves and sand clamps.

Keelstrand's boat shed workshop thrives through midwinter frost: Mara and Arel completed plank fairing, beveling, match-marking, and trunnel-boring for Arel's vessel, while Pell's crew prepared oakum lines and portable pitch pots for immediate spring assembly. Woodcarvers produced a premium inventory of carved hardwood bowls, salt scoops, tool handles, spare sweep oars, and dry casks wrapped in birch bark. Tor's snow teams keep roof eaves and uphill swales cleared of snowpack and ice, flues are swept twice weekly, and Venn preserves the untouched 20% emergency reserve alongside daily spruce-tip and rosehip health infusions.

Outcome
Simultaneous cross-clan diplomacy resolves peacefully across the sound: in the north, Saltmere confirms Keelstrand's winter stability via covert creek observation, while Keelstrand's scout confirms Marker Beach and the token oar remain undisturbed, both clans independently crafting trade goods for spring thaw; in the southeast, High Barley and Ternhaven successfully conduct their third monthly Ford Exchange across stepping stones under the Red Pennant protocol, trading woolens and grain for salt, fish, and tallow while maintaining boundary sovereignty.
Rationale
Northern sound actors exercise mutual patience: Saltmere defers formal Marker Beach caravans to spring thaw and observes Keelstrand from the south dune crest without crossing or hailing, while Keelstrand's Ivo verifies the log and token undisturbed during a calm mid-month window. In the southeast, Jun's Red Pennant safety protocol and Del's snow-framed alder delegation ensure the third monthly Ford Exchange proceeds safely during low water, exchanging vital protein, tallow, and salt for dense woolens, herbs, and grain across stepping stones without territorial crossing. All four leaders achieve power 1.0 (Exceptional).
Verdict
ACCEPT
Warning And Causal Support
Actions follow established routes, weather precautions, and boundary protocols; no territorial trespassing, inter-clan conflict, or player elimination occurs. Mutual restraint is causally supported by harsh midwinter cold.
Program Observations
Contact & Convergence: Bilateral relations in Turn 005 exhibit realistic environmental adaptation during Midwinter. In the northern sound, Saltmere and Keelstrand independently deferred formal caravans across frozen shingle to spring thaw while relying on bounded reconnaissance and symbolic signaling, whereas High Barley and Ternhaven leveraged an established stepping-stone routine and trail maintenance to conduct their third monthly exchange safely. Contact remained emergent and bilateral without forced four-clan convergence.
Refusal & Strategic Restraint: Players consistently exercised disciplined restraint by prohibiting hazardous travel into the snowbound northwest mountain pass or onto exposed sound waters. Refusal to force prematurely ambitious caravans during peak cold preserved manpower and stores, validating that maintenance and seasonal pauses are active strategic assets.
Character Agency & Dramatic Pressure: Named NPC specialists (Daro, Fen, Mara, Tor, Leth, Osa, Wen, Del) operated strictly within established domestic roles and local customs (covered bowls, keel covenants, two-stage hospitality), channeling potential cabin fever into productive indoor craft, flue safety, and shared feasts without requiring artificial melodrama or trope-driven conflict.
Causal Legibility & Attractor Status: Turn 005 review confirms that bilateral exchanges continue to operate as self-limiting local pacts rather than centralized political coalitions. No emergent victory attractor was promoted, consistent with simulation instructions and the absence of unified regional governance claims. Physical constraints (firewood seasoning, flue creosote, anchor ice, dunnage rot) continue to drive gameplay tension with high causal clarity.

Midwinter longhouse life remains secure and healthy through deep frost: tempered willow and alder laths stretch hardwood billets under deep ash-banking, while roof snow loads are cleared and door reed screens block drafts. Daro's weekly sand clamp culls channel softening roots into nourishing communal pottages, and shallows foraging within knee-depth limits provides fresh mussels and cockles during sunny calms. Fen keeps the springhead runnel flowing freely without ice jams, the pan bank revetment holds firm against frost heave, and indoor craft teams produce storage hampers, new eel creels, and oiled tools.

On the first clear morning of midwinter, Evi and a companion traveled light along the shingle track under cover of the southern creek dunes. From concealed vantage, they observed Keelstrand across the water: boats securely hauled on high terrace skids, dwellings smoking warmly with steady fires, and no signs of distress or hostility. In accordance with strict orders, the scouts ignited no signals, did not attempt to cross the creek ice, and returned safely to Saltmere before dusk.

Rationale
The adjudication for Turn 005 (Midwinter, Year 1) is causally rigorous, methodologically grounded, and structurally sound. All four players submitted detailed, disciplined plans that respect harsh midwinter constraints, prioritize domestic survival and health, and maintain strict boundary precautions. Leadership scores across all dimensions are fully justified by specific submission evidence, with no disqualifiers present. All five GM decisions (four reversible grouped local decisions and one cross-player diplomatic decision) adhere to the established rules and substantive cap. Cross-player interactions in the northern sound and southeastern stream ford are resolved with realistic spatial pacing, mutual restraint, and strict boundary preservation. Every material approved outcome is embodied in player-visible facts, and each disclosure envelope provides accurate, causally propagated knowledge without omniscient leaks or unearned certainty. In accordance with simulation instructions, Turn 005 attractor and trope reviews were properly conducted with no promotion of active victory rules.
